RO400
The RO-400 Water Purification Product Line was originally
developed for use in areas without municipal water supply. In Sweden it
has been sold to individuals who treat fresh water
from private wells and lakes. The separation membrane is a thin film
composite membrane which is generally acknowledged as providing the finest
separation of all membrane technologies.
The unit is also called direct flow unit with a flow of 3.5 liters per minute at
15oC. At higher temperatures the flow is somewhat higher and at
lower temperatures the flow is decreased. Direct flow means that the flow
is continuously 3.5 liters per minute without any storage tank. The
possibility to avoid a storage tank is an advantage since it eliminates the risk
of microbiological growth in a storage tank that is past the thin film membrane.
However; it is possible to add a tank after the RO400C (see below).
The RO400 is started by the drop in pressure following the opening of the
faucet. It is therefore also possible to supply water to several different
points since the opening of any faucet will activate the RO400 unit.
The RO400 contains a high pressure recirculation pump that is situated on top of
the membrane. This highly efficient pump increases the pressure to
approximately 15bar. The high pressure results in extremely good rejection
of substances like fluorides and other inorganic salts such as metals often
found in highly polluted water. The membrane also separates viruses and
bacteria. Typical separation values can be found in the leaflet that is
available for download below. The high pressure in the system also
provides very good water management. Water efficiency is approximately 80%
which means that 80% of the inlet water results in purified water and only 20%
is rejected and sent down the drain. This is extremely important if fresh
water is a scarce resource.
The RO400 contains a conductivity sensor that will shut off
the water production if the separation is too low. This ensures that any
problems with the membranes results in shut-off of the unit. Included with
the RO400 is a special faucet with a led-indicator that indicates the quality of
the water. This led-indicator turns from yellow to green when an
acceptable purification level has been reached.
Before the membrane there is a particle filter followed by a carbon filter.
The particle filter removes particles and the carbon filter removes small
organic molecules and chlorine that could otherwise damage the membrane.
The RO400 contains a pressure sensor at the inlet water. This sensor will
shut off the pump when the inlet pressure is too low. The reason for this
is to protect the pump from damage. In areas of fluctuating water
pressure, it is recommended that a standard water pump is used to increase the
pressure to normal levels (above 1 bar). In areas with especially
difficult water, for example water that contains high amounts of sediment
coupled with intense use of the RO400 purifier, the RO400 can be fitted with an
additional filter located after the additional water pump. Usually local
filters and pumps are readily available. This concept is an example used
in a water-shop concept.
The RO400 can handle salt contents up to a TDS-level of 1500mg/l, approximately
corresponding to a conductivity of 2000uS/m.
The dimension of the RO400 is 460 mm x 255 mm x 466 mm and the weight is 29kg.
The power consumption is 530W.
RO400B
This model is used to treat brackish water with a salt content up to 7500mg/l
(conductivity 13000uS/m). To allow for this water treatment the water
efficiency is slightly reduced to (60%) and the flow is lowered to approximately
2.5 liters per minute. In all other respects, the functionality is as the
RO400.
RO400C and RO400C/V
These models are intended for special applications, for example when a
pressurized storage tank is used or when water requirements are high. For more
details please see the below available for download leaflet.
RO400FH
This is a full-house solution with a storage tank and a distribution pump.
In addition there is a system to increase the pH of the water which may be
important if the water is distributed in steel or copper pipes.
